The Seminar was an all day educational event and took place at the lovely Toronto Botanical Gardens facility. During a Professional Development day on Friday, March 26, 2013, Vertical Landscape Architects Inc. presented an informative seminar on Green Walls and Green Roofs to Green Industries High School Teachers of the Halton District School Board. The teachers who organized and attended the seminar wish to introduce Green Roof and Green Wall content into the student programming. Vertical Landscape Architects Inc. commends these teachers for their desire to expose students to emerging sustainable technologies such as Green Walls and Roofs. Canada Blooms 2013 may be officially over, but it was a great show and a successful opportunity in many respects for Vertical Landscape Architects Inc. A show like this represents more than just potential job opportunities in the short term. Canada’s largest indoor flower show provides a great venue to increase public and private sector awareness about the beauty and benefits of living architecture such as living walls and green roofs. While there was genuine interest in the living wall by many visitors to our booth, most had never seen a living wall before and didn’t know this sort of thing could be done in a residential, commercial or institutional setting – either indoors or outdoors. Thank you to all who visited the Canada Blooms booth and took the time to see and/or inquire about the Living Wall by Vertical Landscape Architects Inc.
Our team (Creative Garden Design, Hollander Landscaping Ltd., Who Does Your Garden, and Vertical Landscape Architects Inc.) won the 2013 Canada Blooms Award for Outstanding Use of Interior Plants.
